Aircraft positioned directly overhead a Vertical High Gain Antenna often experience a 'blackspot' in communications that inhibit clear and effective radio transmissions until they have passed by. The GP124 eliminates this shadowed area keeping VHF signal strength at a maximum for both transmitting and receiving.

The GP124 is a omnidirectional unity gain ground plane Airband antenna ideal for local area coverage when a high gain antenna is not suitable. The broad vertical beamwidth offers excellent null fill for consistent signal coverage.

DESCRIPTION

The GP124 is a 0.85 meter 1/4 Wave Fibreglass Whip Antenna with three perpendicularly mounted 1/4 Wave Stainless Steel Whip Antennas that has a 300mm x 20mm diameter stainless steel base tube for mast mounting. The antenna is supplied with a 200mm Coaxial pigtail featuring a waterproof FME Male Connector.

Included is a Ground Plain Base Mount + 10m feed cable with waterproof FME Female Connectors on both ends. There are two types of FME adapters supplied for connection to either a handheld VHF radio or a base station VHF transceiver.

Electrically, the GP124 antenna is a quarter wave radiating element with three radials acting as a counterpoise. The three radial Stainless Steel Whip Antennas utilise a single bolt screw attachment design. The antenna is DC grounded for superior lightning protection and the reduction of precipitation static noise.
